European LCS – 2017 Summer Split – Week 5 Preview, Odds & Betting Tips
June 27, 2017
Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. Mysterious Monkeys & Unicorns of Love
A clash between the newcomers. Sadly for both teams, they are dead-even in the standings, without a single match or game win behind their belt. Predicting this matchup became a lot harder last week due to the mid-split roster swaps on the side of Mysterious Monkeys. Kikis and Amazing give them the necessary man-power to contest for a better spot in the rankings and perhaps even avoid relegations. These roster swaps proved to be intelligent, as the team played a whole lot better last week.
The problem that now exists is the fact that Monkeys, much like their lower-ranked adversaries NiP, don’t know what to do when ahead. These teams so rarely have the lead that they don’t know what to do when they attain one.
In the end, this should go in Mysterious Monkeys’ favor as the experience that both Kikis and Amazing bring to the table should be the deciding fact in-game in terms of shotcalling and closing games out.
Winner: Mysterious Monkeys to win against Ninjas in Pyjamas, 1.83 (odds @ Bet365)
As for their match against the Unicorns of Love, they’re simply out of luck. Even with an underperforming Exileh, the Unicorns still have the upper hand in almost every element of the game. Expect it to be a 2-0 victory in Unicorns favor, however it might not be a clear-cut win as many predict.
Winner: Unicorns of Love to win against Ninjas in Pyjamas, 1.07 (odds @ Bet365)
Fnatic vs. Splyce
A highly anticipated match between two number one teams.
While Splyce have been tearing it up on the Rift during the last couple of weeks, it is simply impossible to bet against Fnatic at the moment. A small slip-up against Roccat shouldn’t dissuade anyone from thinking that they’re the best European team at the moment. It should however be very close as both teams play on a fairly high level, with Splyce having a lot more tools in the pick and ban phase than Fnatic.
Winner: Fnatic to win against Splyce, 1.25 (odds @ Bet365)
ROCCAT vs. Team Vitality
This should be a 2-1 win for Roccat. However the trust we’re giving them here is highly questionable. They have shown very inconsistent play, however in those brief moments of brilliance we saw a team that can evolve and further develop. While Vitality seem to be picking up the pace as well, they didn’t show the same dominance in their wins as ROCCAT did.
Betting on Roccat would be a bit better, however this series could very likely end up being a very big fiesta.
Winner: Roccat to win against Team Vitality, 1.44 (odds @ Bet365)
Misfits vs. H2K
As expected, H2K couldn’t find an answer to Fnatic’s playstyle – starting from the draft. They were too afraid and gave too much respect. Even though they were more proactive in the second game it was too little and too late.
Against Misfits they will have their hands full as they have been improving at a very fast rate. Maxlore is no longer out of sync with the rest of the team and while they do tend to fall off in a single game of the series, they rarely make the mind-boggling mistakes and draft errors as H2K does.
Expect it to 2-1 in Misfits favor. However it will probably be incredibly close.
Winner: Misfits to win against H2K, 1.83 (odds @ Bet365)
Mysterious Monkeys vs. G2 eSports
Even with the abysmal play G2 showed on the Rift in the last couple of weeks, we’re hesitant to bet against them. They know that every match from now on counts, as they essentially took another four week vacation.
Expect it to be very close, with G2 barely coming out victorious.
Winner: G2 eSports to win against Mysterious Monkeys, 1.07 (odds @ Bet365)
